First Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Tajikistan Muhammaddovud Salomiyon proposed to his Russian colleagues to create a working group to develop and adapt Russian language textbooks for Tajik schools and universities. The proposal was made during the roundtable on "State and prospects of humanitarian cooperation between Tajikistan and Russia: education, science, culture" held during the Seventh Tajik-Russian Inter-Parliamentary Forum on Wednesday via videoconference.

"The Ministry of Education and Science of Tajikistan proposes to discuss getting access to school electronic libraries of the Russian Federation, as well as getting electronic versions of textbooks in Russian for their further adaptation and publication in the republic," Salomiyon said. He added that it is also proposed to create a bilateral working group to adapt and develop a series of educational and methodological complexes in the Russian language for the general education system of Tajikistan. The Deputy Minister said that there are 38 Russian-language schools in Tajikistan, 173 schools have Russian language classes, books prepared by famous Russians and the author's group of St. Petersburg University have been published for them and qualification courses for teachers in Russian language and literature are held.

At the same time, Salomiyon noted that Tajikistan's education system is in a state of reform. He pointed to the main challenges that the education system is facing throughout the CIS, due to globalization processes and factors such as the development of technology, innovation in the approach of the educational process and a multi-level approach in education. According to him, the Ministry of Education considers it advisable to develop joint educational programs between pedagogical universities in Tajikistan and Russia, which can create the prerequisites for a scientifically sound transition of relations between the specialized departments to a higher quality level. "We express our readiness to develop dual degree programs in pedagogical areas," summarized the First Deputy Minister.
