Moscow and Dushanbe agree on assessing the threats emanating from Afghanistan, as the scale of terrorist activity in this country is increasing. This was stated by Tajik Foreign Minister Sirojiddin Mukhriddin at a briefing for reporters following his talks with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.

"We discussed the problems of regional security with a focus on the situation in Afghanistan. We agree on assessments of security challenges and threats due to increased number of various terrorist groups in the northeastern provinces of Afghanistan," the minister said.

He added that they exchanged views on Russia and Tajikistan's cooperation within the framework of international organizations. The foreign ministers agreed to continue their policy of mutual support to promote initiatives in the UN, the SCO, the CIS, the CSTO and other organizations. "Our foreign ministries will continue to take necessary measures and efforts to maintain a high level of bilateral relations," the foreign minister stressed.
