Zabihullah Mujahid, a spokesman for the Taliban (a movement banned in Russia), called on the US not to worry about human rights in Afghanistan, which are now guaranteed after US troops leave.

Mujahid recalled that during the US presence in the country, "as many as 15,000 political prisoners were held in prisons." "Now none of these inhumane manifestations exist, and all legal human rights are guaranteed. So there's no point in worrying about that," the Taliban spokesman pointed out.
The US has repeatedly expressed concerns about respect for civil rights and freedoms in Afghanistan and called on the Taliban, who took power in the country in August 2021, to respect those values. The latest such call came at the end of two-plus-two talks on April 12, which included the defense and foreign policy chiefs of the US and India. The ministers called on the Taliban to respect human rights, all Afghans, including women, children and minorities, and to support freedom of travel.
