Tehran declared that the Iranian missiles are not adapted to a nuclear charge

24 April 2020

Iran's missiles are not designed to carry a nuclear charge, and the country does not have a nuclear weapon, Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic Mohammad Javad Zarif wrote about this in his microblog on Twitter.

"Iran has neither nuclear weapons nor missiles designed to deliver such terrible weapons," the diplomat said in a statement after Western countries criticized Iran's launch a vehicle with a military satellite.

On April 22, the Iranian military said that it successfully launched the first military satellite "Noor" ("Light") into a 425-kilometer orbit, using"Gased" ("Messenger") rocket.

Tehran has repeatedly stated its intention to continue working in this direction.

Western countries, as Zarif stressed, cannot lecture Iran on what can and cannot be done "based on their misinterpretation of the provisions of UN Security Council resolution 2231".

The Russian Foreign Ministry also said that launching a military satellite does not contradict the UN Security Council resolution on the Iranian nuclear program.
