If American ships threaten the security of the Islamic Republic, Iran's military will fire on them. Such a statement in response to Trump's threats about the intention to "destroy Iranian ships" in the Persian Gulf was made by the commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, Hossein Salami.

"We have ordered our naval forces to strike American warships and military units if ships or combat units from the terrorist US Navy threatens the security of civilian or military vessels," he said, in particular, on Iranian television.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran, in turn, protested to Washington because of the threats posed by American troops in the Persian Gulf. This was announced by the official representative of the Foreign Ministry Abbas Mousavi.

The Iranian Foreign Ministry summoned the Swiss Ambassador in Tehran, who represents the interests of the United States. He was given a note for the American authorities, "including their illegal presence and actions, and their Navy's destabilization of the situation in the Northern part of the Persian Gulf and near the coast of Iran."

The American ships were ordered to "destroy" the Iranian ones in the Persian Gulf, the day before, US President Donald Trump wrote on Twitter.

Earlier, several incidents involving warships of the two countries in the Persian Gulf were reported.
