Ukraine has provided no evidence of the alleged use of Iranian unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) by the Russian armed forces, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian told CNN on Wednesday.
"We are not supplying weapons to either side [of the conflict]," the Iranian foreign minister said, noting that since the Russian special military operation was launched, Tehran has insisted on "political dialogue." Abdollahian called allegations that Iran is supplying Russia with UAVs for use in Ukraine false.
According to the minister, Iranian experts have "studied the pictures" provided by the Ukrainian side and concluded that "these pictures are in no way related to Iran." "For four months now we have been waiting for the second round of negotiations and expecting them [representatives of the Ukrainian authorities] to come and present the real documents. The Ukrainians keep repeating that [it will happen] in two weeks, soon, but so far nothing has happened," the Iranian foreign minister pointed out.
Moscow and Tehran have repeatedly rejected claims that Iranian drones were supplied to Russia for use in Ukraine. Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov called such reports fake and stressed that the Russian army uses domestically produced drones. In early November 2022, the head of the Iranian foreign ministry said that the republic had supplied drones to Russia, but in small quantities and a few months before the start of the military operation in Ukraine.
