The Iranian side supports the Moscow format, as it is aimed at achieving peace in Afghanistan, Iranian foreign minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian said at a press conference following a meeting of Afghanistan neighboring countries held in Tehran on Wednesday.
"We consider any format that promotes peace, stability and security in Afghanistan positive," he said when asked about the Moscow format. - "In this regard, we thank Moscow."
"We all agreed that Afghanistan should have an inclusive government in which all ethnic groups are present," he said. The diplomat added that the sides agreed to "facilitate the establishment of an inclusive government."
A meeting of Afghanistan's neighboring countries was held in Tehran on Wednesday with the foreign ministers of Iran, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. Russian foreign minister Sergey Lavrov and Chinese foreign minister Wang Yi addressed the meeting by video message. The first meeting in this format was held online on September 8.
