The Aga Khan Award for Architecture ceremony was held in Kazan

The ceremony of awarding the winners of the Aga Khan Award for Architecture was held in Kazan today. The award was presented by Prince Karim Aga Khan IV and Tatarstan State Councilor, co-founder of the Group of Strategic Vision "Russia - Islamic World" Mintimer Shaimiev.

 

 

 

This year, along with Tatarstan Public Spaces Development Programme, the most prestigious architectural award went to are the project of revitalization of Muharraq (Bahrain), Arcadia Education Project in South Kanarchor (Bangladesh), Palestinian Museum in Birzeit (Palestine), Alioune Diop University Lecture Building in Bambey (Senegal), Wasit Wetland Centre in Sharjah (United Arab Emirates). These projects will share US$ 1 million in prize money. 

 

 

 

Earlier, Karim Aga Khan visited the Kazan mosque Kul Sharif, where he met with the mufti of Tatarstan, a member of the Group of Strategic Vision "Russia – Islamic World" Kamil Samigullin, and also, together with Tatarstan State Councilor Mintimer Shaimiev, visited the Bulgarian Islamic Academy.
