The commander of the Lebanese army took personal control of the security of emergency workers in Beirut

The safety of Russian emergency personnel in Beirut is taken under the personal control of the commander of the Lebanese army, the head of the Department's operational group, Sergey Vorontsov told reporters on Monday.


"Taking into account the unrest in Beirut, the commander of the Lebanese army decided to strengthen the protection of the Russian Emergencies Ministry group. Yesterday, he personally arrived and inspected the security of the Ministry hospital, " he said.

 

 

He also said that the Russian Ministry of Emergency group plans to work in Beirut until Saturday inclusive.


"We plan to continue working until Saturday inclusive. On Saturday, a meeting of the operational headquarters for emergency rescue operations will be held," he said.

 

Emergency responders arrived in Beirut on August 5 to help victims of the explosion at the port and participate in a search and rescue operation. At the stadium, Russian specialists have deployed a mobile hospital, where doctors of the "Centrospas" detachment of the EMERCOM of Russia receive victims. During all the work, rescuers found and extracted the bodies of eight people from the rubble.
