The first batch of the Russian Sputnik V vaccine arrived in Kyrgyzstan

The first batch of the Russian vaccine Sputnik V has arrived in Kyrgyzstan, the country's Health Ministry told RIA Novosti.


"The (first batch of vaccine - ed.) plane with the vaccine has already arrived at Manas airport," a representative of the ministry said.


According to him, vaccination of the population with Sputnik V will begin in the next few days.


Earlier, the Russian embassy in the republic reported that the supply of vaccines is carried out within the framework of the agreements reached during the visit of Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov to Moscow on February 24-25, 2021.


Earlier, the Chinese vaccine Sinopharm was delivered to the republic as part of humanitarian aid, and about 10,000 people have already been vaccinated with it.


The first cases of COVID-19 were detected in Kyrgyzstan in March 2020. To date, the number of cases has exceeded 93,000. More than 1.5 thousand people have died.
