“The First Sufi Sheikhs of Russia. Contribution of Islamic Heritage to the Spiritual Development of Russian Society” round table was held in the Civic Chamber of Russia

Today, the Civic Chamber of the Russian Federation hosted a round table on “The First Sufi Sheikhs of Russia. Contribution of Islamic Heritage to the Spiritual Development of Russian Society.”

 

The event was organized by the Commission on Harmonization of Interethnic and Interreligious Relations and the Religious Board of Muslims of Russia.

 

The moderators of the round table were Commission's Chairman Iosif Diskin and his Deputy, Head of the working group on countering pseudo-religious extremism, Head of the Spiritual Assembly of Russian Muslims, Mufti Albir hazrat Krganov.

 

Also, the round table was attended by members of the Civic Chamber of the Russian Federation, heads of centralized Muslim organizations, representatives of state authorities, as well as scientists, experts, theologians, religious and public figures.

 

During the round table, the participants discussed the impact of Sufi teachings on Islamic education and enlightenment, the religious life of the Muslim community in modern Russia.

 

There were also reports on the importance of using the ideas of Sufism in strengthening the moral foundation of modern Russian society and education based on Sufism as a factor in the effective prevention of extremism and strengthening harmony and stability in society.
