25 September 2019

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov took part in the trilateral Russia – Iran – Turkey Ministerial meeting in the Astana format, which was held on the sidelines of the 74th session of the UN General Assembly in New York.

During the meeting, the parties had a detailed discussion of the whole range of issues related to the completion of the formation and launch of the Constitutional Committee. The Ministers also considered the developments "on the ground" in Syria, especially in Idlib and the North-East, taking into account the continuing terrorist threat in these areas.

In addition, the diplomats exchanged views on humanitarian issues with an emphasis on the need to intensify international assistance to Syria and support the process of returning Syrians to their places of permanent residence without politicization and preconditions.
