19 May 2020

It is necessary to lift the sanctions and unite the efforts of countries around the world to find a vaccine against coronavirus, mufti Albir Krganov, head of the Spiritual Assembly of Muslims of Russia (SAMR) told RIA Novosti.

"We call on all countries of the world to combine their intellectual, scientific, and creative potential to create a vaccine and overcome the crisis caused by the coronavirus pandemic," the religious figure said.

Krganov called on leaders of states, international organizations and religious faiths to "promote the joint search for a vaccine through real actions based on compassion and mercy".

"In the current instability, it is necessary to make efforts to end wars and conflicts and lift sanctions. We need to stop the pressure on countries: first of all, ordinary people suffer from this," the mufti stressed.

Pope Francis called on various countries to join efforts to create the necessary vaccines and tools to overcome the COVID-19 pandemic in early May. According to him, it is important to ensure worldwide access to basic technologies "that will allow every infected person in any part of the world to receive the necessary medical treatment."
