In the context of the coronavirus pandemic, the Russian authorities, together with religious and public organizations, could provide food aid to migrants, the head of the Spiritual Assembly of Muslims of the Russian Federation (SAMR) mufti Albir Krganov told an online conference in MIA "Russia today".

"It is important to help migrants. Perhaps not with money, but with food. For example, food packages, including kosher and halal, are distributed in the United States. Perhaps the headquarters for the spread of the pandemic (Operational headquarters for the prevention of the spread of the coronavirus infection in the territory of the Russian Federation-ed.) could provide such assistance. There are a lot of people in real need, " the religious figure said, in particular.

According to Krganov, public and religious organizations in the regions could also join the work on providing food aid.

As an example, the mufti cited the project of the Spiritual Assembly of Muslims of Russia "We are with you", in which about 5,000 packages of food were distributed to families in need, each costing about two thousand rubles.

The problem with migrants, according to him, is also on the borders of Russia, because "the authorities of different countries do not really want to accept them."

Doctors in Russia in the context of the epidemic, meanwhile, as noted by Krganov, provide assistance to migrants even without documents.

"We do not know any examples of denial of medical care to migrant workers in Russia. They do not ask for documents, they treat what is right," Krganov concluded.
