The head of the SVR responded to the statements about Russia's intervention in US elections

15 September 2020

Statements about Russian interference in the US election do not correspond to reality, this is disinformation, said the head of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service Sergey Naryshkin.

The US presidential election will be held on November 3, the current President Donald Trump is running for a second term and will fight the democratic candidate, 77-year-old Joe Biden. Us intelligence said that countries such as Russia, China and Iran are already interfering in the US elections in 2020.

"We have not interfered in the elections and do not interfere, so these theses are such a rather unpleasant, low - level misinformation," Naryshkin said, answering a question from journalists whether the SVR planned contacts with American partners on new charges of interference in the elections.

Earlier, US special prosecutor Robert Mueller for two years investigated suggestions of "Russian interference" in the last election. Mueller completed the investigation, confirming the allegations of election interference. However, he found no evidence of "collusion" between Donald Trump and Russia, the existence of which was denied by both the Kremlin and the White house.
