The international scientific and practical conference "From a turn over the Atlantic to a multipolar world" dedicated to the 90th anniversary of Soviet and Russian politician and statesman Yevgeny Primakov was held in Athens.
Greek and Russian politicians, scientists and journalists took part in the event, according to TASS.
Russian Ambassador to Greece Andrey Maslov, speaking at the forum, stressed that Yevgeny Primakov earned great respect abroad because he promoted a broad interstate dialogue as a means of effectively resolving numerous world and regional problems.
"Yevgeny Primakov played an important role in resolving the crisis in the Balkans when he ordered his Washington-bound aircraft to turn around over the Atlantic, thus condemning the NATO bombings of Yugoslavia," he said, in particular.
