The Moscow Kremlin commented on rumors about the death of a Russian soldier during clashes in Mozambique. The press Secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov said that the Russian armed forces do not operate in the African state.

"As for Mozambique, there are no Russian soldiers there", -  he said, adding that the Kremlin, however, is closely monitoring what is happening in Africa.

"Now there are preparations for the Russia - Africa Summit, which will be held in Sochi. That's why the African theme is now close and is on the top lines of our agenda", - Peskov said.

Earlier it was reported about the clashes resumed between government forces and Islamists.

Mozambique is a state in South-East Africa and is a member of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.
