The Special Representative of the Russian President for the Middle East and African countries, the Deputy Foreign Minister of Russia, Mikhail Bogdanov, held telephone conversations with the Foreign Minister of the Libyan Transitional National Council, Mohamed Siala.
During the conversation, the Libyan side expressed serious concern over the incoming information about plans to attack parts of the Libyan National Army on the capital Tripoli, stressing that this development could lead to very serious consequences.
The Russian side reaffirmed its unchanged principled position in support of the unity, territorial integrity and sovereignty of Libya, as well as the establishment of a sustainable inter-Libyan dialogue with the goal of coordinating the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Libya, Ghassan Salame.
