Preventing the arms race in outer space and turning it into another area of armed confrontation remains a foreign policy priority for Russia.
This is stated in a message published on the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation.
“We are ready to conduct an equal dialogue with all states in order to keep outer space free of weapons of any kind as a condition for ensuring international peace and security. Unfortunately, not all states are set on a responsible conversation on this issue. The disruption of the work of the Group of Governmental Experts on the prevention of the arms race in outer space is a vivid confirmation of this”, the report of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia notes, in particular.
Let’s remind, earlier it became known that the United States blocked the adoption by the group of government experts from 25 countries, including Russia, China, Brazil, India, the United States and others, of a document with recommendations on a legally binding treaty on prevention of the arms race in space, including prevention of deployment of weapon against orbital objects.
