The restoration of a full-format air flights with Egypt is one of the priorities of the bilateral agenda. Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, Oleg Syromolotov declared about this in an interview for the international news agency "Russia today".
"The absolute priority for us is still to ensure the safety of the Russian air passangers. We understand and share the desire of the Egyptian side to complete the relevant work as quickly as possible at the airports of Hurghada and Sharm El Sheikh, which are very popular resorts among the Russians on the Red Sea. Especially, the onset of the summer tourist season is coming", the Press Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation quoted for the Diplomat, in particular.
Syromolotov has also said that Russia and Egypt are keeping in touch the active contacts of anti-terror sphere. In early April in Moscow, Russian-Egyptian negotiations took place within the framework of the meeting of the Working Group on Counter-Terrorism.
The central topic of discussion was the fight against terrorist groups for the Middle East and North Africa, primarily in Sinai Peninsula.
It is known that the flight connection between Russia and Egypt was terminated in 2015 after the crash of the plane of the Russian airline "Kogalym avia", in which 224 people died.
