Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Vershinin met with Special Envoy of United Nations Secretary-General for the Horn of Africa Parfait Onanga-Anyanga, who is in Moscow on a working visit.
The parties held an in-depth discussion on the political situation in the Horn of Africa and the UN’s role in settling regional conflicts and intergovernmental disputes.
At the same time, they noted the need to closely coordinate the efforts of the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), the African Union and the UN in order to ensure peace and security in the region.
