The President of Kyrgyzstan Sooronbay Jeenbekov thanked Russian doctors for their help in the fight against the coronavirus, the press service of the head of state reported.
It is reported that on Friday, the leader of the country met with the head of the medical group that arrived from Russia in Kyrgyzstan, Deputy Minister of Health of Bashkiria Yevgeny Kustov. The meeting was also attended by the Russian Ambassador Nikolay Udovichenko and the Deputy Director for clinical and analytical work of the Central research Institute of epidemiology of the Federal service for supervision of consumer protection and human welfare (Rospotrebnadzor) Natalia Pshenichnaya.
"The President Sooronbay Jeenbekov expressed gratitude to the Russian specialists for their arrival to provide assistance at a difficult time for the country," the spokesman said.
According to him, the President also noted that Russia, as a strategic partner and ally of Kyrgyzstan, provides "invaluable assistance in the fight against the coronavirus infection."
"President Sooronbay Jeenbekov expressed confidence that the stay of Russian doctors will become a tangible support for Kyrgyz doctors in stabilizing the epidemiological situation in the country," the press service added.
Two groups of Russian doctors with a total of 67 people arrived in Kyrgyzstan this week. They have already started to assist their Kyrgyz colleagues in the fight against COVID-19 in hospitals and temporary hospitals.
To date, the total number of infected COVID-19 in Kyrgyzstan has reached 31247. 1211 people died. According to the Ministry of Health of the country, the epidemiological situation in the Republic remains very difficult. More than ten temporary hospitals have been deployed in the capital and regions, as hospitals are unable to cope with the influx of patients. Due to the lack of medical staff, the Cabinet of Ministers of the country recalled all medical workers from vacation and involved senior medical students.
