The presidents of Russia and Azerbaijan discussed trade and economic cooperation

The presidents of Russia and Azerbaijan Vladimir Putin and Ilham Aliyev met today on the sidelines of the XVI session of the Valdai international discussion club. Welcoming his Azerbaijani counterpart, Putin noted that there is a positive dynamics in the development of trade and economic relations.

 

 


"Despite the fact that there was a pause in our personal contacts, relations between our countries have been developing successfully. Trade and economic ties are strengthening, the trade turnover amounted to $ 2.5 billion last year", - the Russian leader said in particular.

 



According to Putin, Russia and Azerbaijan have great prospects and specific projects in this direction. 

 

 

"For our part, we are doing our utmost to ensure these specific major projects are implemented", - the Russian President stressed. 

 

 

Aliyev, in turn, thanked his Russian counterpart for the opportunity to meet, and described Russian-Azerbaijani relations as a strategic partnership.
