09 October 2019

Today, Russian and Turkish presidents Vladimir Putin and Recep Tayyip Erdogan held telephone talks. As with reference to the administration of the Turkish leader Reuters reports that the main topic of discussion was Turkey's planned operation into northeastern Syria.

During the call, Erdogan told Putin that the Turkish operation will contribute to peace and stability in the country.

Last week Erdogan announced the possible exemption of the border area in Northern Syria from the Kurds and the creation of a security zone for Syrian refugees in Turkey.
