The SCO Foreign Ministers will discuss countering terrorism

On May 22nd, a meeting of the Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member states will be held in Bishkek. Participation in the event will take the Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.

 

 

It is planned that the Ministers will discuss the current state and prospects for the further development of the Organization’s activities, as well as current global and regional issues.

 

 


The key task of the SCO remains to ensure security and stability in the Organization’s space, and therefore the meeting’s agenda includes the tasks of countering threats of terrorism, extremism, drug trafficking, cross-border organized crime, etc.

 

 


According to the website of the Foreign Ministry of the Russian Federation  the SCO member states  also will  discuss on issues such as the situation in Afghanistan and Syria, the situation in the Middle East and North Africa region, the implementation of the Joint a comprehensive plan of action on the Iranian nuclear program, the nuclear issue of the Korean Peninsula, etc.
