The State Duma approved an amendment to mention God in the Constitution

Today, the State Duma approved an amendment providing for the mention of God in the Constitution in the second reading.


"The Russian Federation united by a thousand-year history, preserving the memory of ancestors who passed us ideals and faith in God, as well as the continuity of the development of the Russian state, recognizes the historically established state unity", the text of the bill reads, in particular.


The plenary session also approved an amendment to include the concept of marriage as a union of a man and a woman in the Constitution.


Earlier the Press Secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov said that the mention of God in the Constitution would not change the secular nature of the Russian Federation.
