The Emirati QuantLase Imaging Lab has introduced a fast technology for detecting the coronavirus using a laser. This is stated in a press release of the laboratory that is engaged in these studies, received by RIA Novosti.

"The laser recognizes the virus as soon as the blood cells become infected. The equipment is able to do mass screening with results available in seconds", the head of the group of researchers studied changes in the cellular structure of the virus, Dr. Pramod Kumar, reports.

Based on optical phase modulation, laser technology, according to him, is convenient for patients, non-invasive and inexpensive.
The device is suitable for use not only in hospitals but also in public places such as cinemas and shopping centers, as well as at home after a little training.

Kumar expressed confidence that the new system will change the situation in the fight against the spread of the coronavirus.

According to him, the laboratory expects to put new test systems on the market within a few months.

The number of cases of the coronavirus since the beginning of the pandemic in the UAE exceeded 25 thousand, 227 people died, 10 791 recovered.
