The UAE to suspend the issuance of all types of visas

16 March 2020

Starting from March 17, the United Arab Emirates has temporarily suspended the issuance of all visas, except for diplomatic ones.

"The UAE stops temporarily issuing any visas for all, except for holders of diplomatic passports, from March 17 as part of preventive measures and the WHO recommendations to combat the spread of coronavirus, which makes people's travel at this time extremely dangerous," the message of UAE Federal Authority For Identity and Citizenship reads, in particular.

This decision, as noted, does not apply to persons who have already received visas before the announcement.

The decision will remain in effect until "countries with many cases of coronavirus will establish a system for detecting the disease by medical tests before people leave the country".

According to the latest data, more than 153 thousand people are infected with the coronavirus in the world, more than 5.7 thousand died. In Russia, 63 cases of infection have been registered.
