The UN to develop a new global strategy for counter-terrorism

04 February 2020

By the end of June this year, the UN will prepare a new global counter-terrorism strategy, The United Nations Under Secretary-General of the Counter-Terrorism Office Vladimir Voronkov told RIA Novosti.

"We are now starting a review of the counter-terrorism strategy, which is held every two years. The review will result in an updated UN global counter-terrorism strategy", he said.

According to Voronkov, the strategy will be updated by the end of June, and work in this direction has already begun.

"A big discussion will be devoted to the more effective usage of sports and culture in the overall work to prevent terrorism. Therefore, the upcoming discussion on the global counter-terrorism strategy will focus primarily on those issues that will increase society's resistance to any terrorist propaganda", the diplomat said.
