The United States should impose new sanctions on Russia, up to the banning for all Russians to entery the country.
The Admiral of the US Army, the former Commander of NATO forces in Europe, James Stavridis has claimed such a statement in his column in the magazine Time.
According to him, the United States "survived from the direct blow by the hands of the Russians to the heart of our democratic system" and "responded little to this, not counting a couple of symbolic gestures," referring to the alleged Russian intervention in the American elections.
According to Stavridis, the sanctions imposed on Russia are insufficient, and therefore, on the eve of the 2020 elections, they should be tightened. As one of the measures, he proposes a total ban on entry into the United States to all Russians, despite the purpose of the visit. In addition, Washington should refuse to cooperate with Russia in a number of major areas, including the restoration of Syria and the regulation of oil prices.
