Two Russian SU-35 fighter jets intercepted the US Navy Poseidon P-8A reconnaissance aircraft over the Mediterranean sea, the release of the press service of the Sixth fleet reports.
The US military also, as reported by RIA Novosti, called the interception "unprofessional", since Russian fighters, according to them, simultaneously approached Poseidon from both sides, resulting in the scout could not "safely maneuver".
The incident, according to the American side, lasted a total of 64 minutes. The website of the press service of the Sixth fleet has two videos and pictures of this situation.
The Americans have previously claimed that their planes were intercepted by Russian fighters. The last such case occurred in mid-April.
The Defense Ministry stressed that all flights of Russian vehicles were in accordance with international rules for the use of airspace over neutral waters.
