The US Congress passed the «Act on the protection of American security from Kremlin aggression»

14 March 2019

Immediately, two bills aimed at countering Russia were passed by the House of Representatives of the American Congress.

The so-called Kremlin Act, or the «Act on the Protection of America’s Security against the Kremlin’s Aggression» obliges intelligence to prepare a report on the «intentions of the Russian leadership», in particular, on potential military actions of the Russian Federation against NATO members.

The document also suggests a possible response from Russia to the strengthening of the American military presence in Eastern Europe.  The law «On openness of Vladimir Putin» requires the director of national intelligence to submit a report within six months about the personal condition of the Russian President, who is accused by American lawmakers of corruption.

According to RIA Novosti, the basis of both documents is a set of traditional accusations against Russia, including the «annexation of the Crimea», interference with the American elections, etc.  Now the bills should be approved by the Senate, after which they will go to the signature of President Donald Trump.
