The US continues to illegally import goods to Syria across the border in Iraq, thus violating international law and quarantine recommendations, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said on Thursday.
"The risks of spread of the infection in the al-Haul camp remain very high, there are about 68 thousand people there, and, as you know, al-Haul is located near the border with Iraq. Through it, the Americans continue to illegally import various goods, violating all the norms of international law, all the quarantine recommendations. If the virus gets to al-Haul, the camp will become the largest focus of the epidemic in the country, " RIA Novosti quoted the diplomat as saying.
The armed conflict in Syria has been going on since 2011. At the end of 2017, the victory over the terrorist group ISIS (banned in Russia) in Syria and Iraq was announced. In some areas of the countries, the cleansing of militants continues. At the moment, the political settlement, reconstruction of Syria, as well as the return of refugees are at the forefront.
