There are no mass rejections of foreign applicants for education in Russia, Rossotrudnichestvo

09 June 2022

The Rossotrudnichestvo system does not record mass rejections from foreign applicants who applied for higher education in Russia under the Russian government's quota. About 23,000 applications have been submitted, Rossotrudnichestvo deputy head Pavel Shevtsov said on Thursday.

Earlier, Rossotrudnichestvo reported that the quota will increase from 18,000 places to 23,000 places in 2022.

"At the moment we do not see a large withdrawal of applications from our information system. Out of almost 23,000 applications, there are about one hundred withdrawals, and this is one of the best rates in recent years," he said at a plenary session of the European-Asian Congress, which is taking place in Yekaterinburg.

Shevtsov added that the number of refusals may increase by the end of the summer.

The Euro-Asian Legal Congress is a permanent platform for communication and research activities of the professional legal community in the Eurasian space. It has been held annually since 2007 by the Ural State Law Academy in cooperation with the Association of Lawyers of Russia in Yekaterinburg.
