There is no clause on the recognition of the statehood of Palestine in the "deal of the century"

15 April 2019

In the so-called "deal of the century" on the Palestinian-Israeli settlement, which was developed by the US administration, there will be no clause on recognition of the statehood of Palestine. It was claimed by the son-in-law and the adviser to the President of the United States Donald Trump Jared Kushner, the newspaper The Washington Post reports.

According to the material, the document "will finally exclude the notion of Palestinian statehood as the starting point for resolving the longstanding conflict", since, according to its authors, "there will be no peace in the Middle East if everything is initially based on the demand to recognize the sovereign state status of Palestine.

At the same time, it is noted that the "deal of the country" implies the recognition by the Arab states of the sovereignty of Israel in its present borders that means, with the Golan Heights.

In exchange, Palestine will be allegedly provided by the enormous investment from Saudi Arabia.

It is known that the recognition of the statehood of Palestine is one of the fundamental demands of a Palestinian-Israeli settlement from both Palestine itself and from other countries.
