The third batch of the Russian vaccine against coronavirus Sputnik V has arrived in Libya. This was reported by the National Unity Government on its official Facebook page.
As noted, a batch of 100,000 doses of the drug was delivered on Tuesday evening to Mitiga airport near Tripoli and later shipped to refrigerated warehouses of Libya's medical supply department. The vaccine will be put into use after the Food and Drug Administration inspects samples from the shipment for safety and compliance with standards.
The first two batches of the Russian vaccine arrived in Libya in April and June.
In addition, according to the government, 54,000 doses of Pfizer vaccine have been put into circulation after quality control.
According to the latest data of the National Center for Disease Control, since the start of the pandemic in Libya with a population of about 6.7 million people more than 198 thousand cases of infection with coronavirus infection have been detected, 180 thousand people have fully recovered, more than 3 thousand of diseased died from complications. The number of vaccinated people currently exceeds 393,000.
