Three young men were plotting to attack a Muslim community in the U.S.

Three young men accused of plotting to attack a Muslim community in upstate New York have pleaded guilty. Three men and a 16-year-old school student were arrested in January and accused of planning to attack the community of Islamberg. Police have said the defendants had 23 rifles and shotguns and 3 homemade explosives. Investigators uncovered the plot after a student reported a suspicious comment in a lunchroom, calling attention to himself.

 

 


On Friday, 20-year-old Vincent Vetromile pleaded guilty to first-degree attempted criminal possession of a weapon. He faces 7 to 12 years in prison. 20-year-old Brian Colaneri and 19-year-old Andrew Crysel also pleaded guilty to terrorism-related conspiracy. Each faces 4 to 12 years in prison. The case of the 16-year-old high school student is handled in a youth criminal court using a special procedure. Islamberg is a rural community with population of 200 people.
