Kazakhstani President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said that in the face of geopolitical tensions, the republic advocates strengthening the UN and its consolidating role.
"Thirty years ago, Kazakhstan became a full member of the UN. We fruitfully cooperate with the organization in matters of global security and building a harmonious society. Amid growing geopolitical tensions, we stand for strengthening the UN and its consolidating role," Tokayev wrote Wednesday on his Twitter page.
On March 2, 1992, at the 46th session of the UN General Assembly, Kazakhstan was accepted as a member of the organization. Since 1992, representative offices of a number of special agencies, funds and programs of the UN system have been opened in the republic. In 2017-2018, Kazakhstan was elected to the UN Security Council as a non-permanent member.
