The Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions is a part of Kazakhstan's policy aimed at strengthening dialogue and cooperation between different countries, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said on Wednesday, speaking at the Congress of Leaders of Religions.

"Currently, representatives of more than 100 ethnic groups live in harmony and accord in Kazakhstan and about 4,000 religious associations representing 18 confessions are free to operate. We believe that this is our invaluable wealth and inherent advantage. Holding the Congress is an important part of Kazakhstan's policy aimed at strengthening dialogue and cooperation both in our country and around the world," Tokayev said.

He noted that declarations adopted at all previous forums invariably condemned radicalism, violence, and conflicts, no matter what ideas they were using as a cover. "In today's challenging realities, it is extremely important that religious leaders, sitting around one table, demonstrate to the world an example of goodwill that overcomes any differences. In my opinion, this is the main mission and main advantage of our Congress," the president of Kazakhstan stressed.

The VII Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions is held in Nur-Sultan on September 14-15. About 100 delegations from 50 countries participate in its work.
