Kazakhstan places great importance on the development of its partnership with Iran, considering Iran a strategic partner in the Caspian Sea region and is fully committed to strengthening relations with Tehran. This was expressed by Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev during a meeting with Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, which took place on the sidelines of the 78th session of the UN General Assembly.
"The head of state emphasized Kazakhstan's significant commitment to bolstering bilateral relations with Iran, recognizing Iran as a strategic partner in the Caspian Sea region," reported Tokayev's press service.
"We have successfully reached agreements on visa procedures and various aspects of interaction between businesses and citizens. I want to emphasize that Kazakhstan is fully dedicated to enhancing our relations with Iran. It is imperative that our respective governments take the necessary steps to implement the agreements we previously reached in Tehran," the Kazakh leader expressed.
During the discussions, Tokayev and Raisi focused on advancing Kazakh-Iranian cooperation and underscored the significance of implementing a series of measures to enhance collaboration in transportation, logistics, and trade. Tokayev also highlighted the positive interaction between the two nations within the SCO and other international frameworks, as reported by the press service.
