Tokayev: presidential elections to reset the whole political system of Kazakhstan

President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev stated that early presidential elections scheduled for November 20 are the start of a fundamental reset of the whole political system of the country. 

 
"According to the previously announced electoral schedule and in accordance with the country's constitution, today I signed a decree on setting the extraordinary presidential election in the Republic of Kazakhstan for November 20, 2022. These elections are the start of the electoral cycle, which will result in a fundamental reset of the entire political system," said Tokayev in his address to the people of Kazakhstan, published on Wednesday. 

 
The head of state noted that this allows "to concentrate on solving long-term tasks of ensuring sustainable economic growth, increasing the well-being and quality of life of citizens."

 
The president stressed that the transformations and constitutional reforms carried out over the past three years have formed a new model of the state and political structure. "Therefore, in the address, I publicly and openly outlined the entire schedule of the electoral cycle. Thus, all key state institutions will be reset in stages: the president, parliament, the government, and maslikhats (local representative bodies - TASS)," Tokayev explained. 

 
The president said that he will soon present an election platform, which will outline new initiatives aimed at achieving social and economic progress. "As the incumbent head of state, I guarantee that the election campaign will be held in strict compliance with the law, it will be fair, open and with broad participation of domestic and international observers," assured the president of Kazakhstan.
