At a meeting with the heads of government of the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) countries on Friday, Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev suggested creating a working group to develop joint measures in order to mitigate the consequences of geopolitical tensions. This was reported by the press service of the head of state.

"Our economic union is understandably concerned about the increasing political confrontation due to the sanctions conflict and the negative consequences for the economies and financial systems of our countries. We in Kazakhstan are taking anti-crisis measures, this is only the beginning, very serious and difficult work lies ahead," Tokayev said.

In this regard, he proposed to carry out this work in a coordinated manner within the EEU. "Given the close relationship between economic, financial and industrial systems, I believe that a working group should be created within the Union to assess risks and develop economic measures to mitigate the negative consequences," said the president.

The head of the state explained that such a working group could be organized at the level of economic departments with the participation of financial regulators. "The Eurasian Economic Commission should take on the coordinating work. In his opinion, despite the difficult external macro environment, the economic indicators of the EEU are showing quite good positive dynamics," the press service said.

A meeting of the Eurasian Economic Union ended on Friday in the capital city of Kazakhstan. The EEU consists of Russia, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan.
