Tokayev relieved Kosherbayev of his post as Kazakhstan's ambassador to Russia

President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev dismissed Yermek Kosherbayev from the post of the republic's ambassador to Russia and appointed him head of the administration of the East Kazakhstan Region. This was reported by the press service of the country's leader.


"To appoint Yermek Bedelbayevich Kosherbayev as akim (head of administration - TASS) of the East Kazakhstan Region, releasing him from the position of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Russian Federation," the presidential decree reads.


Kosherbayev, 58, had been the ambassador of Kazakhstan to Russia since January 2020. In different years, he worked as deputy foreign minister, executive secretary of the foreign ministry, and executive secretary of the ministry of agriculture. From 2010 to 2014, he was deputy and first deputy head of the administration of the East Kazakhstan Region.


Earlier in the day, Tokayev dismissed Danial Akhmetov as head of the East Kazakhstan Region.
