Kazakh authorities hope for a fair resolution to the conflict in Ukraine in accordance with the UN Charter, Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said in an article titled "Turbulence across Eurasia will not slow Kazakhstan's progress," published Tuesday in The National Interest American magazine.

"As states with the longest border in the world, Kazakhstan and Russia have a special relationship of mutual cooperation. Meanwhile, we also have a deep tradition of friendly relations with Ukraine. We respect its territorial integrity, as the vast majority of countries in the world do. We hope for a quick and fair resolution of the conflict in accordance with the UN Charter," Tokayev wrote.

The Kazakh president noted that he has spoken directly to both Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky, "calling for dialogue and a peaceful resolution." "Kazakhstan is willing and able to continue its role as an international mediator," Tokayev stressed.

He noted that Eurasia has always been a dynamic region, "but concerted efforts must be made to keep it peaceful, open and prosperous."

Vladimir Putin announced a special military operation in Ukraine on February 24 in response to a request for help from the leaders of the Donbas republics. The DNR and LNR began an operation to liberate their territories, which were under Kiev's control.
