Trump Confident Egypt and Jordan Will Take in Displaced Palestinians from Gaza

31 January

US President Donald Trump has expressed confidence that Egypt and Jordan will agree to take in Palestinians displaced by Israel’s military operations in Gaza. He made this statement on Thursday while speaking to reporters at the White House.

When asked about the issue, Trump responded, “They will do it. We do a lot for them, and they will go along with it.”

On January 25, Trump told reporters that he believes it is possible to relocate Gaza’s residents to Arab countries. According to him, about 1.5 million people need to be resettled outside the enclave. He also mentioned that he had already discussed the matter with Jordan’s King Abdullah II and planned to bring it up in an upcoming call with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi.

However, the following day, Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi firmly rejected any forced displacement of Palestinians from Gaza. Meanwhile, Egypt’s Foreign Ministry also dismissed the idea, stating that any violation of Palestinian rights—including their right to their land—is unacceptable, whether temporary or permanent.
