13 April 2020

In a telephone conversation with Russian leader Vladimir Putin, US President Donald Trump welcomed the agreement to reduce oil production, which should stabilize global financial and energy markets, the press service of the White House reports.

"US President Donald Trump has thanked Russian President Vladimir Putin for working with Saudi Arabia and other oil producers, which has calmed the world's energy markets," the report reads.

Earlier, the Kremlin reported that during the talks between Russian and US presidents Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump, as well as king Salman bin Abdulaziz al Saud of Saudi Arabia, topical issues of strategic security were also discussed.

The agreement to reduce oil production by 9.7 million barrels per day by all 23 OPEC+ countries was reached at an emergency meeting on April 12.
