Turkey allows sending troops to Karabakh

Turkish Vice President Fuat Oktay stated that Ankara would send troops to Nagorno-Karabakh if Azerbaijan requested it.


"From the very first day, our president has already outlined his position. Turkey will not hesitate and our president will not hesitate," the official said in an interview with CNN Turk.


He also added that it would not be possible to resolve the crisis without Turkey.


"Russia has tried to find a solution and start negotiations, remembering the old ties in the Soviet Union. But it didn't work out. The fact that Turkey wasn't at the table is a big omission," Oktay said.


He added that Russia is one of the countries with which Ankara managed to build "the healthiest and strongest relations against the backdrop of the chaos in the world.


Battles on the line of contact in Nagorno-Karabakh began on September 27. Armenia and Azerbaijan accuse each other of unleashing military operations, in Karabakh, they report about artillery shelling of settlements.


On October 9, the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan and Armenia visited Moscow at the invitation of Vladimir Putin. Their talks with the participation of their Russian counterpart lasted more than ten hours.


Yerevan and Baku agreed to ceasefire in Karabakh from midday of October 10, exchange prisoners and bodies of the dead as well as additionally agree on specific details of truce.


However, on the same day, the sides began accusing each other of violating the agreement. The second attempt to organize humanitarian truce was made on the night of October 18.
