Turkish security forces have arrested 45 individuals on suspicion of having connections with the terrorist organization "Islamic State" (IS, banned in Russia and recognized as a terrorist group), Ali Yerlikaya, Interior Minister of Turkey, reported.
"As part of ongoing operations against the IS terrorist group conducted across 16 provinces, 45 individuals have been taken into custody," the minister stated on X (formerly known as Twitter). The arrests were carried out in various locations, including Istanbul, Ankara, and Antalya.
Turkey's special forces routinely conduct operations targeting IS.
According to the Interior Ministry, more than 3,000 people have been detained in Turkey over the past year on suspicion of having links to IS.
