At the end of 2019, Turkey entered the top five largest importers of Russian weapons for the first time, Director of the Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation of the Russian Federation Dmitry Shugaev said.

"For the first time, Turkey became the top five importers of weapons last year. In total, 17 billion dollars contracts were signed in 2019", he said, in particular.

Except for Turkey, the largest importers of Russian weapons, according to Shugaev, are India, China and Egypt. The fifth country is not officially named.

Last year, Turkey purchased four S-400 divisions from Russia.

Deliveries were completed ahead of schedule. In addition to the complexes, Ankara received 120 anti-aircraft guided missiles. The Russian side also pledged to provide warranty service for S-400 systems for 20 months.
