Turkey does not violate the sanctions regime against Russia, trade between the two countries is going on in areas not subject to restrictions. Minister of Finance of Turkey Noureddin Nebati said this in an interview with The Wall Street Journal published on Monday.
"We continue to trade with Russia in areas not subject to any sanctions," the minister said.
According to the newspaper, exports from Turkey to Russia were up about 25 percent by the end of the second quarter compared to pre-sanctions levels. "The latest data show that exports from Turkey to Russia have increased even more since then," the newspaper points out.
Deputy Minister of Economic Development of the Russian Federation Vladimir Ilyichev said in late October that trade turnover between Russia and Turkey could reach $60 billion by 2025. He noted that in the first nine months of this year the volume of trade between the two countries has almost doubled compared to the previous year. These are mainly energy products (oil, gas, coal, oil products). At the same time, the growth of "non-resource" exports increased by 19%. Russia's deliveries to Turkey of metallurgical, chemical and industrial processing products (wood, cellulose, plastic and rubber) have increased.
